Privacy Policy

Dash ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data is handled when you use the Dash SSH terminal app.

1. Data We Do Not Collect

Dash does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data with us or any third party. There are no analytics SDKs, tracking libraries, or advertising frameworks in the app.

  • No account registration required
  • No usage analytics or crash reporting sent to our servers
  • No behavioral tracking
  • No advertising identifiers used

2. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

All data you enter in Dash is stored exclusively on your device and is encrypted at rest using SQLCipher with AES-256 encryption, protected by your master password. This includes:

  • SSH server connection details (host, port, username)
  • SSH private keys (RSA, ED25519, ECDSA)
  • Port forwarding configurations
  • App settings and preferences

Your master password is never stored. It is used at runtime only to derive the encryption key.

3. iCloud Sync (Optional)

If you enable iCloud sync, your encrypted database is synced via Apple's iCloud service to your other devices signed in to the same Apple ID. This data is encrypted before leaving your device. We do not have access to it.

iCloud sync is opt-in and can be disabled at any time in Settings. Apple's own Privacy Policy governs how Apple handles iCloud data.

4. SSH Connections

When you connect to an SSH server, a direct connection is established between your device and that server using the SSH2 protocol. Dash acts purely as a terminal client — no traffic is routed through our infrastructure.

5. Permissions

The app may request the following system permissions:

  • Local Network — to connect to servers on your local network
  • Face ID / Touch ID — to unlock the app instead of typing your master password
  • Files & Folders — for SFTP file transfers to and from your device

6. Children's Privacy

Dash is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
